Merry Christmas in Heaven Dr. K/ Rescue 911 video

Many of you may remember when this episode of Rescue 911 aired many years ago. This is an example of the true hero that Dr. K was. I was so amazed when I checked my e-mail when I came home today to find this in my inbox. A man who I did not know had sent it to me. He had googled Dr. Knelson and found his blog and sent me a message with these videos attached. There are two parts to it, so be sure to scroll down and watch both. It brought tears to my eyes to see him on this video. Even though it was a renactment it reminded me of how he was. Just to hear his voice was amazing. I miss him so much as many do.....Merry Christmas in Heaven Dr. K!

It has been a year.....

It has been a year since Dr. K passed on to be with his heavenly father. It was a year on January 24. We still miss you so much at the clinic. It is frequently said, "that is not how Dr. K did it" or "if Dr. K was here he would." Well, the clinic is doing well Dr. K and you would be proud to know that we were seeing patients well after 7:00pm several nights this week. So, many sick kids. Dr. Moorehead and the rest of your hand picked staff are taking care of these little angels. I know you have your hand in their care also, watching out for them from up above. Until we meet again, I love you Dr. K and miss you each and every day. Brenda Bridgers

I was sitting here at the computer tonight with many thoughts running through my head. I have a lot of wonderful memories of Dr. K and I know that there are thousands out there that do also. I have been thinking since last night when I heard that Dr. K had gone to be with the Lord, what I could do to honor him. Tonight as I was sitting here I thought that I would create this site, so that others could share their memories of Dr. K with us. He is truly loved by many of all ages and will be truly missed by those. If there are any memories you would like to share or messages please feel free to leave them here. John Knelson, 73; service Sunday
John H. Knelson, 73, of Morehead City, passed away Thursday Jan. 24, 2008, at home. His funeral is at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. John H. Grayson, associate pastor of All Saints Anglican Church, officiating. Burial is at 1 p.m. Monday at Ashley Heights Baptist Church Cemetery of Ashley Heights. He was born to Henry and Nelda Knelson on July 3, 1934, in Martin, N.D. He grew up in Dixon, Ill., and graduated from Manchester College in Indiana. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied at the Institute Pasteur at the University of Paris, France. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University and his master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Army Special Forces training group at Fort Bragg. After his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University, he joined the faculty at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine and became chief of Neonatology at N.C. Memorial Hospital. During his years living in the triangle area, he was chief of the Clinical Studies Branch, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as director of the Human Studies Laboratory. He went on to become a senior research official with the Office of Research and Development, EPA, Research Triangle Park. Dr. Knelson, “Dr. K,” who moved to Morehead City in 1978, was the first pediatrician in the county and founder of Carteret Clinic for Adolescents and Children. The clinic, his legacy to the area, will continue to serve the needs of the children in the county. Inspired and comforted by an absolute faith in God, Dr. Knelson had a passion for his patients and a zeal for helping the people of Rwanda. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, serving on the vestry and also an active participant of the Anglican Mission in America, Province of Rwanda. He was a founding member of Carteret Christian Academy, sat on the board of directors and taught French. He and his wife Brenda Strother Knelson were also medical missionaries to Rwanda in 2001, 2003 and 2004. In addition to his wife of 24 years, he is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his five children; their mother, Janine Giacomini Guimberteau; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His sister Nelda lives in Radford, Va. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Brooks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church Building Fund, P.O.
